Job Title: Welding and Dimensional QC Inspector/Lead

This is a challenging role that requires a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team in Inverurie, North of Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of welding and dimensional inspections in a busy workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-weld visual fit-up and post-weld inspections to ensure accuracy and compliance with drawings and welding procedures.
  • Identify re-work or repairs and document them as necessary.
  • Work closely with a small quality team, providing support to trainee QC personnel and reporting to the QA/QC Manager.
  • Aid with welding-related questions, such as weld procedures and work scopes.
  • Conduct workshop-based inspections, mainly focusing on welding-related activities.
  • Provide guidance and instructions to the production team on quality-related matters.
  • Attend and participate in daily production meetings, providing quality team input.
  • Review supplier material certificates to ensure they comply with required specifications and standards.
  • Assist with quality-related correspondence with customers and their representatives.
  • Understand technical requirements for work packages and liaise with management and project teams at kick-off meetings when the Quality Manager is unavailable.
  • Assist with quality-related requirements for independent organizations, ensuring all visitors comply with company QHSE policies.
  • Ensure quality-related onsite/offsite activities are in accordance with applicable codes and standards and that the quality team understands requirements.
  • Attend meetings with the Quality Manager to discuss and coordinate QA/QC activities with the workshop inspector to ensure timely involvement for third-party inspections.
  • Assist the project team in purchasing specific goods for ongoing projects.
  • Assist with the Hire Division when required for inspections.
  • Be familiar with client requirements and help compile quality documentation packages in direct response to their requirements, providing for review prior to submission.
  • Assist in the coordination of non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
  • Compile and maintain accurate records and documentation related to inspections.
Essential Requirements:
  • Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Qualified to CSWIP 3.0 minimum.
  • Extensive experience in fabrication and welding (minimum City and Guilds Fabrication and Welding qualification or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with all welding processes and structural materials.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods.

  • Salary from £20/hr with x1.5 overtime Monday to Saturday and x2 on Sundays.
