This role is based in a busy workshop environment, requiring a dedicated and reliable individual to support the team.
The RoleThis position involves a thorough understanding of welding and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with drawings and welding procedures.
- Conduct pre-weld visual fit-up and post-weld inspections, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Identify re-work or repairs and document them as necessary.
- Work closely with a small quality team, offering support to trainee QC personnel and reporting to the QA/QC Manager.
- Aid with welding-related questions, such as weld procedures and work scopes.
- Conduct workshop-based inspections, mainly welding-related.
- Provide guidance and instructions to the production team on quality-related matters.
- Attend and participate in daily production meetings and provide quality team input.
- Review supplier material certificates to ensure they comply with required specifications and standards.
- Assist with quality-related correspondence with customers and their representatives.
- Understand the technical requirements for work packages and liaise with management and project teams.
- Assist with quality-related requirements for independent organizations and ensure all visitors comply with company QHSE policies.
- Ensure quality-related onsite/offsite activities are in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Attend meetings with the Quality Manager to discuss and coordinate QA/QC activities.
- Assist the project team with purchasing specific goods for ongoing projects.
- Assist with the Hire Division when required for inspections.
- Compile and maintain accurate records and documentation related to inspections.
- Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Qualified to CSWIP 3.0 minimum.
- Extensive experience in fabrication and welding (minimum City and Guilds Fabrication and Welding qualification or equivalent).
- Familiarity with all welding processes and structural materials.
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods.
