Production Journalist

We are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Production Journalist to join our broadcast and digital news team at ITV News Calendar.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on television and digital news production, from producing early, late and weekend bulletins and planning stories, to creating online content that enhances our reputation and engages our digital audience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality television and digital news content, including early, late and weekend bulletins and online content.
  • Plan and research stories, working closely with the news team to ensure accurate and engaging content.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the ITV News Calendar and the stories and areas of interest for the many communities in the region.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to the success of the newsroom and the ITV News Calendar brand.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in media law and compliance, exercising excellent editorial judgement and accuracy in your writing.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise excellent editorial judgement and accuracy in your writing.
  • Good knowledge of ITV News Calendar and the stories and areas of interest for the many communities in the region.
  • Able to generate, research and develop original ideas, for online and television.
  • Strong journalistic curiosity, good command of language, accurate spelling & grammar, and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to think about a task or problem in a new or different way using imagination to generate new ideas and to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to bring a different perspective and point of difference to our coverage.
  • Appreciation and experience of how to create content for online to best effect across all platforms.
  • Ability to work successfully, and positively, as part of a team, to deadlines and focusing well under pressure.
  • Understanding of the difference between and importance of Diversity & Inclusion in determining output.
