Role Overview:
The Senior Procurement Manager - Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of capital investment initiatives across our UK Business Lines.
This position involves managing tendering processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring a comprehensive approach to investment project management while delivering exceptional service levels in procurement agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement strategic sourcing initiatives and formulate negotiation strategies in accordance with company policies, ensuring stakeholder engagement and communication.
- Develop effective sourcing methodologies, selection criteria, and manage relationships with approved suppliers to optimize cost, service, and quality.
- Lead the tendering processes for CAPEX projects, from evaluation through to legal contract formulation, particularly for significant assets and machinery.
- Build collaborative partnerships with internal teams, legal departments, and the Global Sourcing team to create contracts and meet procurement goals.
- Ensure operational continuity by managing purchasing agreements and collaborating with business units to maximize value.
- Monitor supplier performance against Service Level Agreements and provide constructive feedback on vendor performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and development by staying informed on market trends and introducing innovative procurement methods.
Qualifications:
- Experience in procurement or commercial roles within a multi-unit business environment, particularly related to capital investment projects.
- Proven track record in developing and negotiating national or regional contracts, with a solid understanding of relevant legal frameworks.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, including a comprehensive understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models.
- Proficient in relevant software applications such as SAP R/3 and e-procurement tools.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and possess a keen interest in IT advancements, including automation and emerging procurement solutions.
- Exceptional communication abilities, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Education:
- Essential: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management, MCIPS certification.
- Preferred: Master's degree (MsC or MBA), industry-specific professional qualifications.
Competencies:
- Preferably knowledgeable in the cement, aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt sectors.
- Strong commitment to managing customer and supplier relationships, efficiency, and achieving results.

- Agile, decisive, and adaptable, with strong negotiation and communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
