Energy and Sustainability Director

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Climate Change and Sustainability team within the Environment, Neighbourhoods and Growth department of a Central London Borough.
As the Energy and Sustainability Director, you will play a key role in contributing towards the council's ambitious target of achieving net zero by 2030 and the delivery of the council's Climate Action Plan.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Management and Procurement: Lead the procurement and contract management of the council's corporate energy contracts, ensuring the best possible value for money while exploring options to improve sustainability.
- Energy Data Management: Collate and manage a large and complex energy data set, provide consumption and trend analysis, and ensure a robust bill reconciliation process is in place.
- Renewable Energy and District Heating: Oversee the expansion of the council's renewable energy generation and district heating portfolio, including managing all relevant liaisons with central Government and appropriate agencies.
- Expert Advice and Support: Respond to enquiries and supply expert advice and complex data to senior management, councillors, and external agencies, preparing reports and analysing complex data.
- Low Carbon Capital Funding: Oversee a programme of low carbon capital funding schemes and support colleagues with capital project delivery.
- Team Coordination and Project Management: Coordinate and project manage teams from various Council departments, consultants, and contractors, conducting project appraisals and feasibility studies.
- Energy Consumption Data Analysis: Use, interpret, and analyse energy consumption data, preparing necessary briefing reports.
- Climate and Energy Projects: Support innovation and the delivery of other climate and energy projects within the council.
- Representation and Communication: Represent the Council, Climate Change Team, and Environment, Neighbourhoods and Growth Department at meetings and prepare detailed advice and reports.
- Equalities and Diversity: Actively promote equalities issues through the application of the council's equalities practices and procedures.
