The Role:

The Site Engineering Manager is tasked with providing strategic leadership to the Engineering function at KP Ashby, ensuring alignment with the Intersnack Work System (IWS). This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement and managing the Engineering and Project pillars of IWS. The successful candidate will oversee the site’s capital program, collaborating with the Central Project Team and other departments as necessary. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in the site Leadership Team, supporting the General Manager in making strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current and accurate records of all relevant statutory compliance for the site.
  • Lead the Progressive Maintenance (PM) and Initiative Management (IM) pillars, developing master and 90-day plans to address operational losses and enhance capabilities.
  • Maximize the availability of mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee capital investment projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Design and manage the engineering budgets for both capital and operational expenditures.
  • Ensure adequate resources and personnel are available to meet operational demands.
  • Develop an annual engineering strategy aligned with the site’s objectives and KP’s strategic framework.

  • Annual factory volume of approximately 28,000 tons.
  • Site workforce of 764 employees operating around the clock.
  • Production of 66 SKUs with varying complexities.
  • Home to iconic brands such as Hula Hoops, Space Raiders, and Popchips.

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a Site Engineering Manager role.
  • Background in the food industry.
  • Proven project management experience with large-scale capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of PPM strategies and improvement techniques.
  • Solid mechanical or electrical engineering background, ideally with a degree or Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience in FMCG, particularly in maintenance and project management.
  • Proven ability to manage a large site effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a focus on positive team collaboration.
  • Lean awareness and thorough understanding of PPM techniques.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to deliver results and foster team development.
