Job Title: Head of IT

A rare opportunity for an IT professional to lead the IT department of a well-established manufacturing firm in Sheffield. This role combines oversight of IT, Software Development, and ERP, making it an ideal fit for an individual with a broad range of technical skills.

Job Summary:

The Head of IT will be responsible for heading up the IT department, reporting to the MD, and will have responsibility for:

  1. Formulating, delivering, and being accountable for the IT strategy and budget
  2. Representing IT within the Company's Leadership Team
  3. Identifying and developing key strategic requirements for the enhancement of the product and service offerings
  4. Delivery of technology-enabled projects - e.g., ERP implementation, process improvement, new software
  5. Developing the product roadmap for software products developed in-house
  6. Leading and developing a small team of highly skilled, specialist developers and ITIL accredited support professionals
  7. Managing 3rd party suppliers
  8. Recruiting and developing apprentice support professionals
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a customer-centric functional and IT leader with extensive skills in planning, new technology, and delivery of B2B solutions in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. The essential skills for the Head of IT are:

  1. Broad IT skills to support and develop internal systems and processes
    • IT Operations (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI)
    • ERP systems (MS Dynamics NAV / Business Central)
    • Automated manufacturing operations
    • Web-based capabilities including e-commerce
    • Programs for specialist printing industry product lines
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication throughout the organisation
  3. Flexibility and adaptability to handle constant change (e.g., government legislation, market adaptation, continual improvement, product and service innovation)
  4. Open, collaborative, proactive, team-oriented approach
  5. Background in the manufacturing industry
Desirable:
  1. Experience of full lifecycle application development and understanding of object-oriented design principles
  2. SQL Programming skills with SQL Server
  3. Experience of building APIs
  4. Project Management accreditation (APM, PRINCE2 etc.)
What We Offer:

A competitive salary range of £60,000 - £75,000, car allowance, and a bonus scheme. The role is largely based onsite in Sheffield, although some hybrid working will be possible at times.
