Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work as part of the Pennine Initial Response Service (IRS), based at Daisyfield Mill, Blackburn.

Main Responsibilities

The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide medical leadership within the IRS Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and work with medical and non-medical colleagues as part of MDT working. The postholder will also be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is payable.

About the Role

The overall aim of the IRS Team is to be the point of initial referral and assessment in Pennine Lancashire for people aged 16 years and over presenting with mental health needs. This team will be the first point of contact for GPs for both crisis and non-emergency mental health referrals and will act as the gateway service to those who may require access to specialist mental health services.

Requirements

The successful candidate will hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
