About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at NEC Software Solutions. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering our solutions into live operational service for our suite of products across our entire customer portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, Commissioning, and Upgrades: You will be responsible for building, commissioning, and upgrading NEC Software Solutions bespoke Communication and CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) products solutions into our customer environments.
  • Fault Finding: You will be responsible for fault finding our product suite of solutions at both hardware and software levels.
  • Documentation and Liaison: You will be required to create, review, and update NEC Engineering documentation, such as work plans, work instructions, and technical guides. You will also be responsible for working professionally in liaison with several internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand.
  • Customer Contact: You will be expected to work extensively with customers on both a technical and non-technical level, requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service.
  • Travel and Autonomy: You will be required to work from a variety of locations and extensive travel should be expected, including overnight stays. You will also be expected to work both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement.
  • Process and Procedure Adherence: You will be required to continually follow and adhere to NEC Software Solutions outlined process & procedures.
  • Delivery and Reporting: You will be responsible for completing all activities within set deadlines and reporting appropriately any difficulties to achieve delivery milestones.
  • Professionalism and Safety: You will be expected to present a professional approach and attitude to all work undertaken, and promote a clean working environment. You will also be required to adhere to all Health and Safety practices, rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Ideally educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience in a comparable role/s.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Windows: A good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory / domain architecture, and proven experience of administering and working with Microsoft Windows 11, Windows Server up to 2022.
  • Microsoft Windows and Server Operating Systems: Proven experience deploying Microsoft Windows and server Operating systems.
  • Microsoft Windows Updates: Proven experience deploying Microsoft Windows Updates (WSUS).
  • Database Management: Working knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL (running backups, running queries, etc).
  • Virtualisation: Proven knowledge and experience of virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware).
  • Business Applications: MS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, Word.
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills.
  • ITIL Best Practices: Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
