Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing specialist clinical expertise to patients and staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex patients.
  • Lead and work with the Community Response Service to ensure effective discharge planning and resource allocation.
  • Offer support and supervision to Band 6 staff in discharge planning and adherence to NHCT policies and procedures.
  • Ensure an appropriate deployment of staff within the team, maintaining a suitable skill mix across units.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff members and external agencies on a daily basis.
  • Promote and ensure safe working practices for all team members, adhering to lone working policy, health and safety policy, and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate student placements within the team, including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and trainee doctors.
  • Ensure assessments of need are undertaken and role model compassionate and inclusive leadership.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
    • State registered with Health and Care Professions Council.
    • Post Graduate training relevant to specialist area.
  • Desirable:
    • Practice placement qualification.
