About the Modern Foreign Languages Department:
The school boasts modern, purpose-built facilities designed to enhance the learning experience. Our curriculum includes French, German, and Spanish across all Key Stages, with additional language offerings in the Sixth Form.
We encourage educators to adopt innovative teaching methods and utilize a variety of resources, including personal materials alongside standard textbooks.
Each language in our department benefits from the expertise of a fluent Language Educator, who collaborates closely with students throughout their learning journey.
Our dedicated teaching spaces are equipped with advanced technology, including interactive whiteboards and multimedia resources, fostering an engaging learning environment.
Students begin their language studies with a rotation of French, German, Spanish, and Latin in Year 7, allowing them to select two languages for continued study in subsequent years. Most students pursue at least one language to GCSE level, with many opting for two.The Spanish curriculum utilizes the
'Viva'
program, complemented by interactive resources for Key Stage 3, and prepares Year 10 students for the IGCSE examination.
In the Sixth Form, we employ the Hodder A Level textbook alongside a diverse array of supplementary materials.
Additionally, we offer the Language Alliance Accreditation in Languages for Business in Spanish.Our department promotes international study trips, with destinations including Cdiz and Seville for Spanish learners.
We also organize trips for French and German students, providing immersive language experiences and cultural enrichment.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a part-time Spanish-speaking Foreign Language Educator to join our team for 20 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of Spanish, demonstrate academic excellence, and have the ability to inspire and engage students in their language studies.
This role involves working with individual students and small groups, primarily focusing on enhancing their speaking skills, while also providing support in other areas of language acquisition.
Collaboration with classroom teachers is essential, as is the preparation of authentic listening and reading materials.Furthermore, the educator will assist bilingual and semi-bilingual students who may require targeted practice in specific language skills, particularly in speaking and writing.
Compensation and Conditions:
This position entails a commitment of 20 hours per week during academic terms. The salary will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the appointed candidate and will be discussed during the interview process.
All appointments are subject to a routine background check. A contributory pension scheme, including life assurance, is available.
