St. David's RC Primary and ELC Setting operates as a denominational, co-educational institution located in the Dalkeith region of Midlothian. The establishment currently accommodates 7 classes for P1 to P7 students, with an enrollment of nearly pupils, alongside an Early Learning and Childcare setting that provides spaces for 40 children aged 3-5, receiving hours of ELC throughout a session.

Application Requirements

Pre-Employment Checks for Teaching Positions

Successful candidates will be required to meet pre-employment conditions, including medical assessments, two written references (one from the most recent/current employer), verification of original qualifications, and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom. Registration with the General Teaching Council and a satisfactory PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are also essential.

General Teaching Council Scotland

Applicants for permanent positions must be fully registered with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS). For further information on registration, please refer to the relevant resources.

This position is classified as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if barred from working with children.

Successful candidates will need to obtain PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, with the associated costs being the responsibility of the candidate. The fee for Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59, to be repaid to the Council through salary deductions over 6 consecutive pay periods. The fee for a PVG Scheme Record Update is £18, to be repaid over 2 consecutive pay periods. If employment concludes before full repayment, the outstanding balance will be deducted from the final salary. Existing employees will have the application fee covered by the Council.

Disclosures should be made confidentially to the Employment and Reward Manager, detailing the offence(s), penalty, and date(s) of conviction. Please note that failure to disclose a conviction that is later revealed through a Disclosure Scotland check may result in the withdrawal of any job offer.

Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant from working with Midlothian. Suitability for positions of trust will be assessed based on the nature of the role and the circumstances surrounding any offences.
