Principal Teacher Role

Salary: £52,000
Hours: 35 hours per week

The successful applicant will oversee Second Level education, manage transitions, promote Outdoor Learning, and focus on current school enhancement initiatives such as Developmentally Appropriate Play. Leith Walk Primary School, one of Edinburgh's historic educational institutions, maintains strong connections with neighboring schools and the broader community. We value our partnership with the Parent Council, which welcomes all parents. Our school environment is vibrant and inviting, with continuous improvements to facilities. In addition to well-equipped classrooms, we offer specialized rooms for various educational purposes.

Applicants must possess a solid understanding of the Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) framework and be familiar with the Child Protection Management (CPM) process. A genuine passion for Professional Learning, along with demonstrated experience in team leadership, collaboration, and relationship building, is essential.

Salaries will align with the established Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. This check must be provided by the candidate. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the role will depend on the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.
