Department of Children, Education and Justice Services

Lead Educator
Leith Primary School

Compensation: £52,
Work Hours: 35 hours per week

An exceptional opportunity has arisen at Leith Primary School for a seasoned educator aiming to advance their career. The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of play-based learning across the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) Early Level. Experience in facilitating successful transitions from nursery to Primary 1 is essential, along with the ability to cultivate effective and proactive partnerships with parents and caregivers at this stage.

Experience in a multi-agency framework would be beneficial, as would familiarity with early intervention strategies that can be effectively implemented for children and families during this critical period. The ideal applicant should demonstrate outstanding organizational and interpersonal abilities, be a collaborative team member, possess a positive outlook, and be willing to support colleagues' practices while leading by example. Although the primary focus of this role will be on the Early Level, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will actively engage in the broader leadership and development initiatives of the school.

For additional information, please refer to our official website.

Compensation will align with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. This check will be required prior to employment. An unconditional job offer and commencement in the role will be contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.

We are dedicated to fostering a workplace culture where all individuals feel valued, included, and empowered to perform at their best. We recognize the advantages that a diverse workforce, with varying values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds, brings to our organization.

As part of our commitment to enhancing our organizational culture and creating an excellent work environment for the residents of Edinburgh, we aim to attract the most qualified individuals, not only based on their skills and experience but also regarding their work approach.
