Assistant Camp Manager - Summer Camp

Working Hours: 08:30-18:00, Monday to Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: £640.48 per week, dependent on age, experience, and qualifications, as well as camp size.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office.

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT CAMP MANAGER

  • Assist in delivering induction training and oversee preparations prior to camp commencement.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement health and safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Communicate and provide updates to Area Managers and Central Office regularly.
  • Support the Camp Manager with daily responsibilities, including site inspections, equipment evaluations, staff coordination, financial tracking, inventory management, and communication with parents and staff.
  • Supervise the Camp Administrator and assign appropriate tasks to ensure efficiency.
  • Provide assistance to staff during sessions as required.
  • Engage with parents and guardians effectively.
  • Act as a deputy management figure for staff, parents, guardians, and children.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the site and storage areas, and that all equipment is properly stored.
  • Evaluate staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events is required.
  • Experience in childcare environments, holiday camps, or team support roles is essential.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is necessary.
  • Must obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references is required.
  • Participation in and delivery of Induction Training Days is expected.
  • Completion of annual online training is mandatory.
  • Coordination of camp pack-up at the conclusion of the camp is required.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be trained in Paediatric First Aid, varying with camp size.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Adhere to health and safety obligations by following established procedures and systems.
  • Proactively address safety concerns.
  • Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct evaluations for each staff member at the end of their contract.
  • Report any child protection issues to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional, medical, or dietary needs and assist in making necessary adjustments.
  • Administer medication as required, following appropriate documentation procedures.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be necessary for swimming sessions.
  • The above responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be expected to undertake various tasks as needed by your evolving role within the organization and its overall objectives.
