Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong clinical background who can engage, motivate, and connect with our learners. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering educational content across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including collaborative learning experiences within the institution.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing student learning, teaching, and assessment. This includes administrative duties that contribute to a superior student experience. You will also play a vital role in the entire student journey, which includes recruitment, academic guidance, clinical placements, and emotional support.

Essential qualifications include a well-rounded and up-to-date understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical aspects of diagnostic imaging, along with substantial clinical experience. A good honours degree (UK or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography or a related field is required, as well as registration with a recognized professional body.

The Radiography Department

Our academic team possesses diverse expertise across all facets of Diagnostic Imaging and is comprised of HCPC registered professionals. Many team members hold significant external roles that influence the future of diagnostic radiography and the broader Allied Health Professions. The team is responsible for delivering the following programs:

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography
  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship
  • BSc (Hons) Medical Ultrasound Degree Apprenticeship
  • MSc in Medical Ultrasound
  • MSc in Diagnostic Imaging

Additionally, the team contributes to interdisciplinary teaching initiatives, including the integrated care curriculum and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Higher Degree Apprenticeship.

The department is located in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with specialized imaging suites, ultrasound technology, and simulation resources.

Job Duties

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences that challenge students.
  • Equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge sought by employers through effective curriculum delivery.
  • Fostering a sense of community among students and serving as a primary contact for their needs.
  • Assisting in the operational management of courses/modules and proactively addressing any arising issues.
  • Participating in student orientation and preparing essential information for new students.
  • Providing pastoral care and supervision for students.

Learning, Teaching, and Assessment

Responsibilities include planning and delivering the curriculum using various media, including technology. Engaging in reflective practices to enhance performance and contributing to innovative teaching and assessment methods to meet learner needs. Providing constructive feedback and guidance to students, translating professional experience into academic contexts as appropriate.

Research and Scholarly Activity

Identifying and conducting relevant research and scholarly activities, integrating findings into teaching and learning. Exploring opportunities for income generation through research, consultancy, or professional practice.

Collaboration and Communication

Working effectively with colleagues at all levels to achieve team objectives, developing collaborative relationships across departments, and maintaining open communication with management regarding responsibilities.

Personal and Professional Development

Seeking ways to enhance efficiency and quality, motivating others, and contributing to the achievement of organizational goals.

Quality Management

Contributing to the establishment and achievement of quality standards and participating in initiatives aimed at improving educational provision.

These responsibilities may evolve in line with the strategic objectives of the department and institution.

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience:

  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of critical, practical, and theoretical issues in diagnostic imaging.
  • Experience in teaching, training, or supervising students in academic or clinical settings.
  • Understanding of how technology can enhance educational delivery.

Desirable Experience:

  • Engagement in professional or academic projects that contribute to knowledge in the field.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Good honours degree (UK or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography or related field.
  • A master's level qualification or commitment to obtain one.
  • Registration with the HCPC or appropriate statutory body.
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification or commitment to obtain one.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable:

  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
  • Doctorate in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification.
