Zodiac Maritime is a leading international ship operating company providing comprehensive management services for a diverse fleet of commercial vessels. We are seeking a highly skilled Vetting Superintendent to join our team in London.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the compliance of managed tanker and gas vessels with oil companies' vetting requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Operations and Commercial teams to provide requisite questionnaires, Q88 updates, and subsidiary documents for pre-fixture.
  • Provide guidance to vessels for prospective PSC, Terminal, or 3rd party inspections to ensure they are suitably prepared.
  • Assist in booking and execution of SIRE/CDI inspection programs based on vessel itineraries.
  • Liaise with vessels, agents, and inspecting companies to ensure planned 3rd party inspections are completed in a cost-effective manner.
  • Facilitate and monitor remote assessments of vessels for PSC and 3rd party inspections where physical attendance is not possible.
  • Update and maintain inspection records and databases in line with TMSA.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and close out of observations from 3rd party inspections.
  • Maintain records to demonstrate effective closure of all observations from 3rd party inspections.
  • Compile and maintain fleet vetting data within Oceanfile for generating reports, assessing trends, and improving performance.
  • Monitor and track SIRE performance for each vessel and provide guidance to improve future performance.
  • Circulate vetting broadcasts and safety bulletins to provide guidance to the fleet and improve vetting performance.
  • Assist in reviewing industry-specific regulatory changes and proposing updates to QMS for effective implementation and compliance.
  • Maintain records for Q88, VPQ, CDI, and necessary documents required for vessel screening.
  • Collect data and review vessel compliance with oil major requirements.
  • Review and monitor tanker fleet performance on RightShip and provide closeout documents as necessary.
  • Participate in inter-departmental and fleet review meetings as required.
  • Attend vessel calls at UK or Northern Europe ports as necessary.
Requirements
  • Ex-sea going Senior Officer/Engineer on Tankers with a minimum of 1 year's shore-based experience in a similar role within a ship management company.
  • Shipping background with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role within a ship management company.
  • In-depth experience of carrying out shore-based day-to-day vetting and marine assurance in tanker management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international legislation, industry standards, codes, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of oil majors' vetting process and requirements and industry best practice.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to apply sound commercial judgment.
  • Highly effective at building and sustaining relationships at multiple levels within a global organization.
  • Comfortable operating in a multicultural environment.
  • High level of analytical skills and strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Strong focus on delivering quality and meeting deadlines.
