About the Role

Salter Grange Limited is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to support their General Contractor in the Data Centre sector. The ideal candidate will have cradle-to-grave experience on high-value construction projects in various sectors with reputable Main Contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the Design Delivery Schedule in collaboration with the client, Project Manager, design team, and consultants.
  • Negotiate scope-of-work, deliverables, and pricing with consulting firms.
  • Oversee the procurement of design services from a consultant design partner, from initial tender inquiry to appointment.
  • Support the Project Manager in tracking all internal and external design and cost issues.
  • Manage the distribution and production of project workload within the project team and design consultant team.
  • Collaborate on new design issues/changes and research projects with the team.
  • Ensure the accuracy and precision of completed designs.
  • Manage design document control and prioritize project design assignments.
  • Lead an experienced design team to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Monitor design deliverables closely to ensure project milestones are met and implement recovery strategies if necessary.
  • Participate in departmental strategic planning.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Engage in planning, programming, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in design meetings, offering continual input to optimize design and minimize unnecessary work.
  • Liaise with clients, insurance companies, consultants, and architects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred or Architectural/Structural/Civil)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
