Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

We are working with a well-established medium-sized M&E contractor with a strong presence across sectors, seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join their London business.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business with an interesting order book of projects for the coming years. As a Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for promoting a positive HS&S culture and ensuring compliance with statutory HS&S responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the pre-qualification process of sub-contractors via the company on-boarding system.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and delivery teams on HS&S matters affecting projects.
  • Contribute to and review project significant risks, assisting in the development of Construction Phase Plans (CPP) and associated documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance to line and site management in implementing HS&S programmes and initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing key roadmaps or improvement plans.
  • Undertake SSER inspections, recording findings and advising management as appropriate.
  • Monitor site compliance with statutory HS&S responsibilities and the business management system.
  • Review site procedures and practices, providing reports to the management team as necessary.
  • Carry out and/or support business units in 45001/14001 internal and external audits.
  • Lead in HS&E incident investigations, involving regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Assist operational teams in conducting incident investigations to identify root causes and recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage incident reports within designated timescales.
  • Oversee the collation of working hours/statistics and record on the SHEQ system.
  • Contribute to the development of management/statistical reports and present to the relevant Board as necessary.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide updates on performance.
  • Report to project management teams on a regular basis and attend meetings as required.
  • Manage and deliver the HS&S aspect of the business unit induction process.
  • Deliver HS&S related training.
