Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist for a 6-month fixed term contract at our Ampthill site. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to precision engineering projects within a dynamic and innovative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, set up, and operate various machine tools, including multi-axis machining centers, ensuring precise and efficient production.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop optimized machining processes and tooling designs, contributing to process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Mentor and train other machinists, including apprentices, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Work diligently from engineering drawings and specifications, adhering to strict quality standards and tolerances throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance work procedures and implement improvements in collaboration with the engineering team, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
  • Proactively address machine issues and implement corrective actions, ensuring smooth production flow and minimizing downtime.
  • Effectively manage your workload to meet production schedules and deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintain a commitment to high-quality standards and actively participate in improvement initiatives, contributing to the continuous enhancement of product quality and manufacturing processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with a strong foundation in milling operations.
  • Proficiency in Fanuc & Heidenhain programming languages, demonstrating expertise in CNC control systems.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, enabling you to effectively interpret and translate design specifications into machining programs.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining methods, showcasing your ability to operate complex machinery and achieve intricate designs.
  • A thorough understanding of inspection techniques and measuring equipment, ensuring the accuracy and quality of machined components.
  • Familiarity with general engineering workshop practices and safety protocols, demonstrating a commitment to a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and MRP systems, enabling you to effectively manage data and collaborate within the team.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, allowing you to clearly convey technical information and contribute to effective teamwork.
