Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Deputy Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of medical education and training in the NHS.

About the Role

The Deputy Training Programme Director will be responsible for ensuring high standards of education and training in Internal Medicine, as defined by the General Medical Council and other national bodies. This will involve working closely with the Head of School, clinical faculty, and other stakeholders to deliver effective educational quality management.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivery in service and education, with experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context. They will also possess excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring high standards of education and training in Internal Medicine
  • Working closely with the Head of School and clinical faculty to deliver effective educational quality management
  • Developing and implementing educational programmes to support achievement of curriculum competencies
  • Recruiting and managing trainees, including assessments, progression, and support
  • Collaborating with other stakeholders to develop and implement workforce development and commissioning strategies
Person Specification
  • Primary medical qualification or On the Specialist Register
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, Professional Association and/or Regulatory Body
  • Experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
  • Experience of clinical and educational leadership
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
