Location - York

We are seeking a motivated Catering Services Support Operative to primarily assist in the Production Kitchen, while also collaborating with the broader team to deliver services to our patients.

The primary responsibility of this role is to perform various tasks, including the preparation, transportation, and distribution of meals for patients, staff, and visitors, all within a hygienic and safe food environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all food items meet the required standards of quality, quantity, temperature, and freshness.
  • Prepare, package, and label food products for designated service areas.
  • Provide a courteous and efficient food service to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to temperature and portion control guidelines.
  • Restock food storage areas and display counters to maintain a steady supply.
  • Ensure that condiments are readily available to enhance menu items.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and visitors regarding dietary, allergy, ethical, and cultural food requirements.
  • Monitor and verify food temperatures in accordance with departmental protocols, including during deliveries and in storage units.
  • Safely transport food to the appropriate service locations prior to meal service.
  • Clean kitchen equipment following established cleaning schedules.
  • Maintain cleanliness in associated catering areas using commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Wash pans, utensils, and light equipment using commercial dishwashing machines.
  • Sanitize all crockery and cutlery in food service areas, replenishing supplies as necessary.
  • Operate the cash register, manage transactions, and adhere to cash handling procedures.

The post holder may be required to undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
