Position Overview

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking to appoint a permanent Senior Anaesthesia Consultant to join our dedicated team. This role will primarily be based at our main hospital facility, with opportunities to engage in sessions at our upcoming elective orthopaedic center.

Role Responsibilities

The position is full-time, consisting of an average of hours per week, structured into 10 sessions as per the consultant contract. The allocation includes 7 sessions dedicated to direct clinical care (DCC) and 3 sessions for supporting professional activities (SPA).

Direct clinical care encompasses the administration of anaesthesia across various surgical disciplines, tailored to the expertise of the successful candidate and the operational needs of the service. This may involve travel to nearby facilities where elective services are provided.

Main Duties

Daytime clinical responsibilities will include a combination of fixed or flexible sessions at the primary hospital site and associated facilities. The successful candidate will also participate in the out-of-hours clinical on-call rota, which currently operates on a non-resident basis, ensuring consultant coverage for emergency procedures and obstetric care during evenings and weekends.

Clinical Services Provided

Our anaesthesia services cover a range of specialties, including:

  • Electroconvulsive therapy
  • Community dental services
  • Ophthalmology
  • Magnetic resonance imaging
  • Interventional radiology and gastroenterology procedures
