Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and driven healthcare security professional who is enthusiastic about supporting our patients within the community as part of the District Nursing team.

As a Community Healthcare Security Specialist, you will be tasked with providing high-quality, cost-effective nursing care as directed by the district nursing team. Your role will ensure that patients receive safe, personalized, and effective care by adhering to care plans and treatment protocols.

While you will operate under the guidance of the nurse in charge, you should be capable of working independently when required.

We value a passion for community nursing and will provide tailored competency-based training alongside mandatory NHS training pertinent to your role.

A valid driver's license is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Maintain clear and accurate documentation in accordance with established standards.
  3. Utilize IT systems for essential tasks, including accessing patient records and data entry.
  4. Ensure compliance with Trust policies regarding patient consent.
  5. Report any incidents or accidents occurring during duty hours.
  6. Adopt a patient-centered approach to care delivery, promoting rehabilitation and self-care.
  7. Perform delegated phlebotomy tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  8. Assist the Community Nursing Team in managing patients with chronic conditions and those at the end of life.
  9. Recognize when referrals are necessary and coordinate with other healthcare professionals.
  10. Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  11. Stay informed about blood tests and ensure proper labeling of samples.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy supplies.
  13. Follow safety protocols for any incidents involving needles.
  14. Dispose of medical waste in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Candidate Profile

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or nursing environment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a primary care setting.
