We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cost Estimator to join our expanding team. This role is crucial as we continue to enhance our operations and project delivery.


Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in analyzing Geotechnical, Archaeological, and Site Survey Reports, along with Contamination assessments.
  • Strong understanding of New Rules of Measurement (NRM) and Standard Method of Measurement 7 (SMM7), as well as familiarity with NBS Specifications and various Standard Forms of Contract (including JCT, ICE, NEC, and GC Works).
  • Expertise in preparing supplier and subcontractor inquiries to facilitate competitive bidding.
  • Established relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, with the ability to effectively communicate to ensure timely quotation responses.
  • Experience using CAD-Measure for quantity take-offs from DWG and PDF drawings.
  • Capability to develop analytical unit rates and lump sum pricing for primary trades, particularly in carpentry, brickwork, and groundworks.
  • Skilled in scheduling and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotes, making necessary adjustments for exclusions and clarifications to ensure fair comparisons.
  • In-depth knowledge of Design & Build processes, with the ability to manage Design Consultants during the tender phase to ensure timely and coordinated information.
  • Strong technical acumen, with the ability to consider all necessary elements for successful project completion, particularly in Design & Build scenarios.
  • Competence in assessing scaffolding needs and producing relevant schedules for inquiries.
  • Ability to compile comprehensive Preliminaries for the assigned project.
  • Proficient in presenting tenders to company Directors during Adjudication Meetings, contributing to discussions on risk management, competitive advantages, and margin considerations.
  • Excellent tender presentation skills, including the ability to draft tender letters that outline qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Ability to engage with Client's Consultants post-tender submission, managing Bill/Contract Sum Analysis and preparing Preliminaries Breakdowns.
  • Skilled in formally transferring a secured tender to the Contracts Department, ensuring accurate project information is conveyed to the Construction Department.
  • Proficient in using CAD-Measure or similar digital measurement tools.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word and Excel, with knowledge of Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively utilize databases, including search and mail merge functionalities.

Salary range: £78,000 - £83,000 plus benefits and bonus. This position offers the flexibility of two days of remote work each week.
