Position Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a proactive and innovative individual with substantial clinical expertise in emergency care to become a vital member of our Pharmacy team.

The successful candidate will assume the responsibilities of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Emergency Care, focusing on delivering patient-centered, high-quality pharmaceutical services. This role encompasses working within the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit, and acute medicine, ensuring the effective and safe utilization of medications.

As a key contributor to the Trust's emergency care team, you will provide essential pharmaceutical governance, safety protocols, medication information, financial oversight regarding pharmaceuticals, and educational support to both the healthcare team and patients. Collaboration with Highly Specialist Pharmacists for Emergency Care and Admissions will be crucial in this role.

Main Responsibilities

The Lead Clinical Pharmacist will:

  • Deliver advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients in the Emergency Department and related units.
  • Support the Associate Director of Pharmacy and Deputy Head of Pharmacy in overseeing the clinical and technical aspects of pharmacy services.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the quality of pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • An MPharm degree or equivalent.
  • Registration as a pharmacist with the GPhC.
  • A Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • An independent prescribing qualification or a willingness to pursue one.

Experience in a hospital clinical setting is essential, along with a strong track record of performance and the ability to manage complex medication reviews.
