Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated clinical pharmacist to lead our pharmacy team in delivering patient-centred pharmaceutical care to medical patients across the Royal London Hospital.

Main Responsibilities

The postholder will be responsible for leading the clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department, Acute Medical wards, General Medical wards, and Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in providing responsible, safe, and cost-effective prescribing within the networks to:

  • Optimise patient outcomes
  • Minimise adverse reactions
  • Improve medicines safety

The postholder will also help to deliver the broader Medicines Optimisation and Governance Strategy across the Royal London Hospital and other Barts Health Hospitals.

Key Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive post-registration hospital experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to all health and care professionals, colleagues, patients, and their loved ones.

They will also have a sound knowledge of drug and therapeutics at Diploma level, a good understanding of patient safety initiatives, and a demonstrated ability to deliver staff training.

The postholder will be a registered pharmacist with the GPhC and will have a postgraduate pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience.
