FHP Leeds office is seeking a highly skilled Building Services Technical Director to lead our team of engineers. This is an exceptional opportunity for a confident, client-facing engineer to take a leading role on various projects across the UK.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, ambitious individual with team leadership skills, capable of delivering high-profile projects to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mid to large-sized projects as the main engineer.
  • Maintain relationships with key clients and manage a team of engineers.
  • Conduct quality checks and promote technical excellence.
  • Ensure team results and adherence to budget.
  • Mentor staff and promote continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
  • Perform risk assessments and value engineering.
  • Contribute to and provide information for fee proposals.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in mechanical building services design.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of market sectors.
  • Previous experience managing projects and small teams.
  • Ability to provide technically sound design solutions.
  • Experience in seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
  • Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering design, including specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles.
  • Proficiency with software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, MS Office; knowledge of Revit is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to inspire, influence, and negotiate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Preferably Chartered or working towards Chartership status.
  • Membership of CIBSE or a relevant and equivalent professional body.
