We are offering a part-time position for a Band 3 Surgical Rehabilitation Support Assistant, working 21 hours per week, with a schedule from Monday to Friday (specific hours to be determined upon hiring).

Key Responsibilities

The position entails engaging with patients across various surgical wards, providing essential support in diverse clinical areas. You will assist our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in facilitating physical rehabilitation, ensuring comprehensive patient care, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department.

We seek an individual who is eager to learn, enthusiastic, and dedicated to providing high-quality care. While prior experience as a Therapy or Healthcare Assistant is advantageous, we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds.

Your responsibilities will include managing daily IT-based administrative tasks and overseeing the availability of therapeutic equipment as needed.

Strong communication and organizational skills, along with a compassionate approach, are essential in this role. You will receive ongoing support for your professional development and training. At times, you may be expected to manage your own caseload and work independently.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Level education or equivalent, with Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience).
  • Willingness to undertake relevant departmental training to achieve necessary clinical competencies.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 education.

Experience & Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Therapy Assistant role.
  • Awareness of patient priorities.
  • Practical knowledge of patient safety and risk considerations.
  • Basic understanding of health and well-being principles.
  • Proficient in computer usage and IT skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in decision-making responsibilities.
  • Experience working within a health or social care team or multidisciplinary team.
