Job Overview

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to join our Clinical Team as a Clinical Operations Leader. We are looking to fill two positions, each responsible for a distinct region:

Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Somerset

Each Clinical Operations Leader will serve as the prominent clinical representative within their designated area. They will act as the clinical 'face of SWASFT' to local ambulance personnel, commissioners, and service providers, representing the Clinical Directorate at significant local meetings. They will be the main point of contact for all local clinical care inquiries, establishing a crucial connection between SWASFT, Integrated Care Systems (ICS), and service providers. A collaborative relationship with the Head of Operations is essential to advance clinical care in the area.

The Clinical Operations Leader will be integrated within the county, working closely with local managers, leaders, and patient safety teams to enhance clinical practices in their assigned region. They will engage with their local health system to ensure the delivery of appropriate care, at the right time, by the most qualified clinician.

Key Responsibilities

Enhance and optimize the range of hospital and community pathways accessible to ambulance clinicians. Provide strong clinical leadership within their geographical area. Collaborate with local operations to improve the quality of clinical care in their region. Lead and develop clinical topics as required. Work in partnership with central teams to elevate local performance on Ambulance Clinical Quality Indicators. Assist the Infection Prevention and Control Team to uphold effective IPC principles. Partner with local Patient Safety and Quality teams to ensure safe patient care and promote learning.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

HCPC registered Paramedic or Nurse C1 and nationally recognized Blue Light Driving Qualification Foundation Degree Full UK Driving Licence Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Desirable

Membership in the College of Paramedics or the Royal College of Nursing. Training or experience in Patient Safety Leadership or Management qualification or experience

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 2 years' experience as a practicing clinician in the pre-hospital environment (applicants must have successfully completed the Newly Qualified Paramedic period).

Desirable

Proven track record in clinical practice development Previous experience in incident investigation
