Head of Software Engineering

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our team as a Head of Software Engineering. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 400+ engineers across software and quality engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of 400 engineers, providing strategic direction and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy, aligning with the company's overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve engineering practices.
- Identify and develop talent, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and expertise to meet business needs.
- Manage performance and development of team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Represent the engineering function on the UK Tech leadership team, providing input on technical direction and strategy.
- Drive effective delivery and pace across multiple outcome teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Liaise with and manage enterprise stakeholders, including those based in the US, to ensure successful collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Lead engagement with third-party suppliers, including Software as a Service companies and Labour providers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest relevant changes in regulation and enterprise process, maintaining a broad knowledge and awareness of the latest technologies and engineering practices.
- Participate in technical design reviews, ensuring a clear and consistent approach to engineering practices.
- Proven track record of leading large software engineering teams, with a strong focus on delivering high-performance results.
- Ability to solve complex challenges across people, process, and technology, with a passion for driving innovation and improvement.
- Experience in recruiting and developing great engineering talent, with a focus on building structures to support growth and development.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt and communicate compellingly to any audience, including internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the latest native developments within AWS and real-world experience.
- Understanding of the latest cybersecurity trends and their impact on engineering practice.
- Ability to work within enterprise policies and guidelines, while customizing to fit the UK business needs.
- Knowledge of the UK/US regulatory, consumer lending, and technology landscapes (preferred).
