The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in ensuring our operations run smoothly by maintaining essential machinery.

As an RME Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep of various equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your colleagues and minimize equipment downtime. Our RME Technicians enhance the availability and quality of our machinery while improving the overall operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct proactive and preventative maintenance on a diverse range of site equipment.
  • Perform reactive repairs and troubleshoot issues in a dynamic distribution environment.
  • Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the training and development of onsite apprentices.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple sites.

A Day in the Life:

As an RME Technician stationed on-site, you will respond swiftly to any machinery concerns. You will carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely. Additionally, you will address breakdowns, diagnose issues, and implement solutions efficiently. Your insights will be valuable for long-term enhancements.

Collaborating with senior team members, you will handle daily maintenance tasks such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with external contractors when specialized expertise is required.

You will work various shifts to guarantee our sites are supported around the clock, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.

About the Team:

The RME team is dedicated to keeping our equipment functioning at peak performance. We are a technically skilled group, comprised of excellent collaborators and led by experienced professionals. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.

Our team members include leaders who oversee operations involving cutting-edge technology, some of which is unique to Amazon.

From installing automated systems to managing general maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment, our team handles various aspects of Amazon's technical operations. This includes ensuring legal compliance for safety and operational efficiency.

We focus on minimizing downtime in Amazon's critical operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment for our customers. Our work often occurs during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method, we possess the skills and opportunities to develop and implement innovative processes or advanced technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Completion of a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualification to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Apprentice trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng.
  • Experience in condition-based monitoring.
  • Experience with print and apply machines.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor or automation systems.
