Join Our Team as a Controls Software Engineer

We are excited to announce an opportunity within the Airedale Controls Department for a motivated individual to become part of our dynamic team. This role focuses on the development and implementation of software solutions, allowing you to engage in projects from initial concept through to successful completion, gaining invaluable experience throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control system strategies tailored for HVAC applications utilizing platforms such as Carel, Trend, Tridium Niagara, and Siemens.
  • Conduct software testing using functional test simulators to verify operational integrity.
  • Create comprehensive project documentation, including control philosophies, operation and maintenance manuals, functional test scripts, and BMS points lists.
  • Oversee site commissioning of control projects and ensure effective system integration (BMS/Energy Monitoring/HVAC controls/upgrade works).
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to clarify project scope and ensure proper functionality during commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate closely with the Research & Development team to integrate new technologies and features into ongoing projects and report on enhancements.
  • Support the training and development of engineers and apprentices.
  • Provide technical assistance to site engineers and clients as needed.
  • Act as a primary contact for clients, addressing any concerns and fostering strong relationships.
  • Coordinate with customers and project engineers to ensure project alignment.
  • Build and maintain valuable client relationships.
  • Be open to travel as required for project needs.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A technical degree or relevant experience in controls/BMS is required.
  • Alternatively, completion of a recognized apprenticeship in air conditioning/refrigeration with solid electrical/mechanical HVAC knowledge and a keen interest in software development.
  • Experience with programmable controllers is advantageous, but a strong willingness to learn is essential.
  • Familiarity with Carel 1tool software and pCO controllers.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 software and controllers.
  • Ability to understand and design control strategies effectively.
  • Knowledge of HVAC applications, including heating and cooling systems.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and capability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems and communication networks.
  • Awareness of BMS and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, TCP/IP).
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem-solving, demonstrating initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player.
