Job Overview

1. We are seeking two full-time (37.5 hours per week) and one part-time (22.5 hours per week) Band 3 Clinical Laboratory Technicians for our Central Specimen Reception Department.

The department operates a 24/7 service, and the successful candidates will be expected to participate in a shift system that includes early, late, weekend, and holiday rosters. Some night shifts may also be necessary.

These positions will primarily be based at our main laboratory, but candidates may be required to work across various sites within our healthcare network.

Our laboratories are accredited by UKAS and HCPC, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining high standards. We are dedicated to supporting continuous professional development, reflected in our exceptional training programs.

Main Responsibilities

The duties associated with this role are diverse, and our team of Laboratory Assistants rotates through various tasks.

The post holders will work collaboratively to receive, sort, and distribute specimens within the Pathology department. Core responsibilities include receiving specimens, entering data into laboratory information systems, basic specimen preparation when necessary, and organizing specimens for processing.

We are looking for individuals who possess a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines. Attention to detail and precision are essential for this role.

Successful candidates should be able to follow written protocols and work independently with minimal supervision.

4. Candidates must have achieved GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science at grades A-C. Previous experience within the NHS and a laboratory environment is advantageous.
