About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Accommodation and Housing Officer. In this key role, you will play a vital part in preventing homelessness by supporting vulnerable people to access and maintain suitable housing and accommodation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work with households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness to offer advice and assistance to resolve their housing situation.
  2. Complete assessments to determine statutory duties owed to households, develop personal housing plans, and issue decisions on duties owed.
  3. Maintain effective contact with households to develop creative solutions to resolve their housing situation.
  4. Work with households to determine required support and refer to relevant services.
  5. Keep accurate and up-to-date records and update systems as required.

Please note that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for this post.

Requirements
  1. Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably housing or a related service, with knowledge of relevant housing processes.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of housing options and advice, homelessness remedies, and the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups.
  3. Experience of dealing with customers and voluntary bodies, and an understanding of the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups.
  4. Ability to carry out financial assessments related to housing options and some knowledge of welfare benefits.
  5. Ability to manage workload, respond to emergency assessments, and be flexible, with team working and making a positive contribution.
  6. Ideal knowledge and understanding of housing legislation, landlord and tenant law, and security of tenure.
