Job Title: Head of Design and Innovation

Join UK Research and Innovation as we seek a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Design and Innovation portfolios. As the Head of Design and Innovation, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to our teams, driving the development and delivery of innovative projects and initiatives that align with our organisational strategy.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of design and innovation, shaping the future of research and development in the UK. You will be responsible for leading a small team and working closely with our Creative Industries team to deliver strategic investments and activities that drive growth and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Design and Innovation portfolios
  • Develop and deliver innovative projects and initiatives that align with organisational strategy
  • Lead a small team and work closely with the Creative Industries team
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the Design Council and UKRI
  • Embed design thinking in our approach to innovation and commercialisation
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of design research and systems design
  • Experience of leading the development and delivery of major, complex projects and/or programmes of public investment
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work proactively and flexibly
