Mental Health Practitioner for Children

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in Children and Family Health Devon. As an Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.
As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will provide emotional and mental health assessments and evidenced-based therapeutic interventions to children/young people and their families who have been referred with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties. You will also provide support to the school community, developing and building on their whole school approach.
Main Responsibilities- Hold an appropriate caseload and undertake a keyworker role for children with emotional and mental health needs in the community.
- With supervision, undertake assessments, including risk assessments, contribute to care planning and deliver evidence-based interventions in collaboration with children/young people and families/carers.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering early help in community settings and providing a range of individual, group and family focused evidence-based interventions.
- Provide support to, and work with, other professionals across agencies in the community including health, social care and education, to meet the needs of children/young people and families/carers.
- Training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach.
- Experience of engaging/working with children, young people, families and carers with mental health needs and undertaking specialist mental health assessments in the community, including risk assessments.
- Experience of providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and young people with mental health problems.
- Experience of collaborative working in community settings, with professionals across a range of agencies in health, social care and education.
