Job Title: Behavioural Unit Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Unit Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Behavioural Unit Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to support learning and development
  • Be resilient and supportive in difficult situations
  • Assess the needs of children and young people and use specialist skills to support learning
  • Encourage children and young people to interact and work co-operatively with others
Requirements:
  • Driver with access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Previous experience working with children and young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH (ideal)
  • Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (desirable)
  • Understanding and flexible nature, alongside being proactive, empathetic, engaging, and creative
  • Patient, engaging, and calm under pressure
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
