About the Role

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity to work as a Behavioural Unit Teaching Assistant in a secure unit setting. As a member of our team, you will be working with individuals who have mental health conditions, including those with learning disabilities, personality disorders, forensic mental health, and serious mental illness.

As a Behavioural Unit Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-level therapeutic care through education. Your role will involve building strong relationships with individuals, working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis, and supporting them through difficult situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with individuals
  • Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to support learning and development
  • Be resilient and supportive in challenging situations
  • Assess the needs of individuals and use specialist skills to support learning
  • Encourage individuals to interact and work cooperatively with others
Requirements
  • Driver with access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Previous experience working with children/young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH (desirable)
  • Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (desirable)
  • Understanding and flexible nature, alongside being proactive, empathetic, engaging, and creative
  • Patient, engaging, and calm under pressure
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
