Overview of the Position:

We are seeking an HR Director to enhance our Employee Relations Center of Excellence (COE) operations across EMEA and APAC, with a particular emphasis on the United Kingdom. Collaborating closely with HR Business Partners and our internal employment law team, the Director will be instrumental in advancing our approach to employee relations issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

Act as the main point of contact for grievances, disciplinary actions, appeals, and related issues in the United Kingdom; provide similar support for other regions as necessary. Carry out investigations in EMEA/APAC regarding various employee relations topics, including complex and sensitive cases; facilitate resolution discussions with legal, HR partners, and business leaders. Design and oversee a systematic approach to the management of grievances, disciplinary actions, appeals, and investigations that is beneficial for all involved parties. Promote and instruct on best practices in investigative techniques, including investigation planning, documentation, relationship building, and outcome management; train, mentor, and advise HR partners (both individually and in group settings) on effective strategies for addressing and resolving employee concerns. Create tools and templates for global application, coordinating with regional HR and legal advisors to incorporate country-specific considerations where necessary. Collaborate closely with legal advisors, HR Business Partner leaders, and other stakeholders to identify patterns and risks in employee relations issues and assist in developing and implementing scalable and effective risk mitigation strategies. Assist with special projects and other initiatives as required.

Essential Qualifications:

Strong commitment to employee relations, a growth-oriented mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement. Exceptional investigative abilities, including investigation planning, interviewing techniques, documentation management, and decision-making visuals. A strong understanding of the employee experience and the capacity to handle challenging conversations effectively. Outstanding influencing and relationship-building capabilities, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal stakeholders and subject matter experts. Analytical mindset: adept at problem-solving using both quantitative and qualitative data; capable of making fair, reasoned, and fact-based decisions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in creating effective tools and templates using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Unquestionable judgment and the ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive matters appropriately. Strong time management skills and the ability to remain productive while juggling multiple issues and workstreams. Willingness to adjust working hours occasionally to accommodate different time zones. In-depth knowledge of UK employment relations processes, laws, and best practices, with a desire to learn about requirements in other EMEA/APAC countries. Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges and a commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant experience in an HR/Employee Relations role, including direct involvement in investigations; prior experience in a centralized employee relations team is highly preferred. Experience managing grievances, disciplinary actions, appeals, and related issues in the UK; experience supporting employee relations matters in other countries is strongly preferred. An undergraduate degree or equivalent is strongly preferred.
