Role Overview
In partnership with our leadership teams throughout the organization, as the ER Manager, you will serve as a reliable consultant by providing expert employee relations guidance and practical assistance to key stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee employee relations activities across the organization, addressing a range of cases from straightforward to complex, while also mentoring management and leaders. You will continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes, team dynamics, and operational efficiency.
You should possess a strong background in coaching and developing a team of Employee Relations Consultants within a dynamic, commercial setting while managing your own caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily management, development, and coaching of the Employee Relations Consultants. Serve as the escalation point for the HR team and leadership on inquiries, appeals, and more intricate employee relations issues. Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, policies, and practices to effectively manage employee relations cases, from advice and investigation to meeting support and documentation, while providing commercial recommendations and solutions that balance business risks. Track and monitor employee relations cases to ensure timely resolution, while identifying opportunities for enhancing experience and efficiency. Assist in generating employee relations data and analytics to share insights with the organization aimed at improving team experience and process efficiency. Recognize strategic and commercial trends that may influence future initiatives and provide recommendations to the Head of HR, while fostering knowledge and skills among managers and leaders to address issues at their root causes. Take charge of the ongoing development and refinement of HR policies, ensuring a consistent approach and compliance with current employment laws. Ensure effective communication with relevant stakeholders regarding upcoming legislation and new policies, including the creation and delivery of training to upskill the broader HR team as needed. Cultivate a collaborative partnership with stakeholders across HR and the organization. Proactively lead and/or contribute to HR projects, which may involve the development and communication of new programs or initiatives impacting employee relations. Manage responses to ACAS Early Conciliation matters and Employment Tribunals, coordinating materials and liaising with legal and other departments as required. Participate in reorganization and restructuring activities as necessary, providing guidance and support on collective and individual consultation processes. Possess knowledge and experience of TUPE, offering support and advice to stakeholders throughout the TUPE transfer process. Understand and align with the overarching Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy, ensuring best practices in employee relations.About You:
Highly motivated with extensive experience in employee relations, case management, and policy-focused roles, including a deep understanding of employment law and the ability to provide commercial solutions. Experience working at a management or leadership level, effectively managing a small team while also maintaining a hands-on approach to your own casework. Proven experience in stakeholder management as a credible and assertive subject matter expert, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. Skilled in presenting complex issues and problem-solving initiatives in an accessible format, along with supporting processes and procedures. Experience in training, coaching, and developing HR and business stakeholders on employee relations matters to enhance their capabilities. Proven track record in conducting comprehensive reviews of policies, practices, and terms and conditions, effectively solving problems and ensuring smooth implementation of solutions. Approachable, resilient, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities.This role offers flexibility with occasional travel requirements.
