Job Description

Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Chief Financial Officer to join our client, Harbour Learning Trust, as a key member of the Executive Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Finance, Estates, and IT function, delivering a financial strategy that aligns with the trust's priorities and future plans.

About the Trust: Harbour Learning Trust is a Lincolnshire-based multi-academy trust that oversees a family of seven primaries and one secondary school. The trust was established in 2014 and has a strong central team dedicated to school improvement and partnership working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Finance, Estates, and IT function, ensuring effective financial management and strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement a financial strategy that aligns with the trust's priorities and future plans.
  • Manage a team of 10, nurturing talent and capability, and enabling them to excel against strategically linked individual objectives and L&D plans.
  • Oversee statutory compliance and audit, including engaging with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
  • Prepare year-end accounts, liaise with auditors, and ensure compliance with statutory bodies.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified accountant with current membership of CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CIPFA.
  • Experience in the education sector, preferably in a multi-academy trust or similar setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead a medium-sized team.
  • Substantial experience in budget preparation, scenario planning, and financial forecasting.
  • Excellent team working skills, with the ability to contribute to effective strategic and operational decision-making.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of c£80,000, dependent on experience.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, with the opportunity to be based primarily in Lincoln or Grimsby.
  • Excellent pension scheme, with a 23.4% employer contribution.
