Job Title: Buyer

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Buying Team at Persimmon Homes. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will be responsible for sourcing and ordering materials, achieving best possible value, and ensuring group deals are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Material scheduling for multiple live and upcoming developments at any one time
  • Calculating bulk quantities of bricks, blocks, and tiles required for each site and scheduling them with the manufacturer in a timely manner
  • Maintaining and monitoring regional bulk material levels to ensure there are no shortfalls or over ordering
  • Submitting material cost budgets to department surveyors and advising where large losses or stolen product has occurred
  • Working closely with Site and Contract Managers to ensure requisitions are processed efficiently and site issues are overcome swiftly
Requirements:
  • A confident and numerate professional with previous Buyer experience within a construction company and the ability to provide take-offs from drawings
  • Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Strong management style with the site teams and supply chain
  • Proficient in Excel and able to negotiate effectively
  • Previous COINS experience is a distinct advantage
  • Full driving license is essential
