Buyer Role at Currys

Currys is seeking a skilled Buyer to join our team. As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in building relationships with our strategic brand partners, attending trade shows to discover the latest technologies, and developing a sourcing strategy to bring customers the best ranges while minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage category supplier relationships in line with our commercial supplier strategy and category strategy.
  • Harness credible relationships with suppliers to develop a sourcing strategy that meets customer needs and minimizes costs.
  • Negotiate product ranges, including cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability.
  • Negotiate financial terms related to ranging, activity, and performance to maximize EBIT across the category.
  • Ensure the category has a market-leading range and is aware of market place activity and innovations.
  • Work with merchandisers to ensure all metrics are hit across sales and stock.
  • Ensure supplier contracts are completed in line with the company DOA and pre-determined annual timetable.
  • Develop capable and committed colleagues who are aware of the company vision and their role in delivering it.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports to deliver category targets and ensure compliance with the Commercial critical path and processes.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Buyer with knowledge and experience of supplier negotiation and relationship management.
  • Good commercial awareness and appreciation of customer needs.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expert analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to create and interpret sales and margin data to develop tactical and strategic commercial plans.
  • Commercial acumen and financial awareness.
