Job Summary

The Telegraph is seeking an experienced Associate Money Editor to join its highly successful personal finance team. As a key member of the Money desk, you will be responsible for driving our daily coverage and working with reporters to ensure their stories are the best they can be.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for personal finance journalism, including identifying trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Work closely with reporters to stimulate ideas and develop stories to optimum effect, ensuring that our content is engaging, informative, and entertaining.
  • Develop and lead campaigns and investigations that speak to our audience and set the news and political agenda.
  • Edit content for multiple channels, including digital, print, and newsletters, ensuring that our content is of the highest quality and meets the needs of our readers.
  • Help manage the flow of large volumes of content to meet an array of deadlines, ensuring that our content is timely and relevant.
  • Spot potential stories or digital projects from raw data, case studies, or news, and develop them into engaging and informative content.
  • Write in various formats, including news, features, analysis, advice, explainers, and opinion pieces, to showcase your expertise and creativity.
  • Use audience analytics to inform and improve idea generation and presentation, ensuring that our content is tailored to the needs of our readers.
  • Play an integral role in what is a stable, happy, and committed team, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve our goals.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong understanding of personal finance and consumer topics.
  • Knowledge of all fields of personal finance, including investments, savings, and debt.
  • News-aware and alive to the interests of our audience, with a strong understanding of what drives our readers.
  • Full of original ideas and a creative approach to storytelling.
  • Highly organized, energetic, and enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in digital publishing, with a strong understanding of online platforms and social media.
  • Comfortable with the use of analytics, with a strong understanding of how to use data to inform content decisions.
