Job Title: Learning Support Professional

Location: Portslade

Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Professional to join our team at a Primary school in Portslade. The successful candidate will work with pupils in KS2 with special educational needs, providing support and assistance to ensure their academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, including those with Autism
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed
  • Develop and implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behavior
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and coordinated support package
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a classroom setting, particularly those with special educational needs
  • Excellent behavior management skills and the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles and needs
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training to ensure that you remain up-to-date with best practices in special educational needs support
