Job Title: Learning Support Professional

Job Type: Full-time, Long-term Contract

Location: Portslade

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Professional to join our team at a Primary school. The successful candidate will work with pupils in KS2 with special educational needs, providing support and assistance to ensure their academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique requirements
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect
  • Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness to inform future support strategies
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a classroom setting, particularly those with special educational needs
  • Excellent behavior management skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
  • SEN experience, with a strong understanding of autism and other special educational needs
