About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a behavioural science project with a growing and dynamic team at Imperial College London, as a Behavioural Science Trainee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to workshops and round table discussions to determine the specific target behaviour for the study
  • Conduct a background literature review on the target behaviour, identifying the scale of the problem, and what (if any) behavioural science interventions have been trialled previously
  • Help with the design and co-facilitation of focus groups or public facing activities with the public to understand more about the target behaviour, and why people behave the way they do
  • Learn how to thematically analyse data from these focus groups
  • Work with the team to co-facilitate co-design workshops with the public and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the co-design of a range of behavioural science informed interventions to take forwards to evaluate in a trial / experiment
  • Work with the team and the Behavioural Insights Team to design the best way to evaluate our interventions. This could be a real world evaluation or an online trial
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to activities beyond behavioural science work, including communications, policy and public engagement

Requirements

  • Secondary Education with a selection of A levels
  • Have NOT previously completed an internship or graduate programme longer than two months
  • Must have no, or limited, prior paid or unpaid work experience at a university or organisation related to health, science, technology, or business management that lasted longer than two months
  • Experience working in teams and with people
  • An understanding of (or an interest in) the principles of behavioural science and how they can be applied
  • An understanding of (or an interest in) public engagement, and how to conduct engaged research and public involvement activities
  • Highly organised and able to work to deadlines
  • Good communication skills, able to tailor messages to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience of or interest in, collaborating with others and developing their communication and teamworking skills
  • Experience of or interest in, facilitating workshops / events
  • Interest in learning qualitative data analysis skills
