Geo-Environmental Consultant/ Engineering Geologist

Position Overview

Tetra Tech is seeking a skilled Geo-Environmental Consultant or Engineering Geologist at the Consultant or Senior Consultant level. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a driven professional to contribute to a leading national geo-environmental and mining division. The team is engaged in providing comprehensive land quality assessments, ground investigations, geotechnical analysis, and geo-environmental consultancy services to a diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting desk-based evaluations of geological and hydrogeological conditions, historical site data, and risk assessments to develop a conceptual site model and associated ground model.
  • Designing ground investigations, interpreting data, and compiling detailed reports.
  • Managing ground investigations and overseeing site operations.
  • Producing interpretative documents, strategic plans, and technical specifications.
  • Providing input during the construction phase, including supervising activities and reviewing earthworks data.
  • Assisting with project management tasks, including collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, client interactions, meeting participation, contractor procurement, and financial oversight.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology or engineering geology.
  • Hands-on experience in managing and supervising ground investigations and laboratory scheduling.
  • Proficiency in assessing geotechnical and geo-environmental data and drafting interpretative reports.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical and geo-environmental field investigation methodologies.
  • Some background in drafting earthworks specifications and supervising earthworks, along with experience in mining assessments and investigations is advantageous.
  • A willingness to travel occasionally for ground investigation or remediation oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and technically sound reports.
  • A solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental management practices relevant to ground investigations and applicable CDM regulations.
  • A valid driving license, preferably clean.
  • A CSCS card relevant to the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
