Job Overview

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation, is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join their team on a 2-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the operation of the organisation's vehicle workshop and MOT centre
  • Allocate work and administer the vehicle workshop
  • Provide fleet vehicle and plant maintenance, including MOT and taxi testing

Essential Skills:

  • Practical mechanical understanding of HGV commercial vehicle maintenance, cars, and plant
  • Prioritise work as required on a service need basis
  • Work methodically and efficiently
  • Work under pressure, maintaining a high standard of work and attitude
  • Operate computer-based software and IT auditing systems
  • Perform practical garage work
  • LGV inspection and testing standards and principles
  • Fault diagnosis of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Commercial garage operations
  • MOT legislation
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical mechanical maintenance of HGV commercial vehicles
  • City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • LGV Class C driving licence

  • Up-to-date MOT testers qualification
  • Vehicle inspection accreditation
  • Operators CPC qualification
  • Assessment and writing risk assessments
